Our bar staff are friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, as our customer comments indicate. The Good Intent is strong to it's roots as a traditional local pub. It has a heavily beamed public bar area and a saloon bar area with inglenook fireplace. The layout of the bar areas ensures there is something for everyone. From the openness and joviality of the public bar which naturally divides into an informal dining area, to the more intimate and secluded atmosphere provided by the saloon and snug.
The Good Intent
Situated in the picturesque village of Puttenham, The Good Intent village pub offers a wide selection of cask-conditioned ale, traditional pub food and a warm atmosphere. Muddy boots, children and dogs are all welcome.
In the winter, snuggle up with our real log fire and in the summer stretch out in our beer garden. Car parking situated to the rear of the pub.
An undercover smoking area is situated at the rear of the pub.
"Great village pub close to good walking country, with a real dedication to serving a range of good ales. A real log fire burns in the grate, and a hum of conversation dominates, rather than music. Genuinely welcoming and friendly. The house beers are Ringwood Best Bitter, Harvey's Sussex, and TT Landlord; guests were Triple fff Alton's Pride, Hammerpot Red Hunter and Ballard's Nyewood Gold.
Well worth seeking out." - 18 Feb 2008
“Excellent cosy village pub where the staff make you feel right at home. Lovely atmosphere and agree with a previous comment that said 'full of people doing what pubs were meant for: drinking, eating, talking, and in general having a good time'. Always look forward to a visit here, I wish there were more pubs like this one.” 11 Jan 2008
“Had lunch here midweek. Steak & ale pudding excellent and very filling. Good selection of food and ales. Even on a wet Wednesday there was a healthy buzz of conversation from the locals. Have popped in a number of times before and always been impressed. Great pub!” 6 Dec 2007
